Where is Intuition?

Intuition happens when all of your brain is in gear. I am sure all of you have had times when this happens. The "light bulb" goes off. You have an "aha" moment, and everything becomes crystal clear.

You can help your brain to have more of this kind of awareness, through training and exercise. It is much easier than it sounds!

In fact it is fun.

Intuition will happen with increasing regularity as you exercise the right side of your brain.

The left side is linear in thought. It gets the job done (in the way it has always done the job.)

The right side is global. It sees the big picture. It can jump out of your "ruts" to provide insight on new ways of doing things.

Right brain activity is meditation, exercise, Tai Chi Chih, using the senses, being aware of one's surroundings through the senses, paying attention to the subtleties, listening to music, playing an instrument, relaxing hobbies, a walk in the woods for the experience, getting lost in reverie, daydreaming, enjoying quiet times by yourself, and other non-end-result oriented activities.

In fact, many of the things that you scold yourself for or deny yourself because you have too many pressing jobs to do to allow yourself to "play", are the very things that will help you to get your tasks done in new and better ways!

Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night with a problem solved that you had been struggling with all day? Of course! We all do this. When you sleep the left side of the brain loses it's grip on your life. The right side then has a chance to do what it does best ... apply everything you have sensed and experienced in your life to your problem!

The left side of the brain has been trained to be dominant in our culture. If we are not constantly going or doing, we feel useless or lazy. This is all the left side of the brain trying to control your life! Intuition has a hard time happening if you are a slave to left brain thinking.

An easy way to exercise the right side of the brain throughout the day is object meditation, and an easy way to begin object meditation is by making a REM-gram™.

Where is intuition? It is in your ability to access both sides of your brain with ease, rather than being a robot to the dominant and bossy left side of your brain.
